Bucharest, Romania

We are boarding our ship this afternoon, after we take a tour of Bucharest's old city.

Our walking tour of the city took us through the pedestrianized old city and pointed out the few ancient buildings and several communist-era relics. It was remarkably light on content compared to other tours we would take later on our trip.
Lunch was at a restaurant in a converted mansion with a beautiful garden.

We took a bus through the Romanian countryside to the port town of Giurgiu, on the Danube River. Our cruise ship is the AmaCerto. When we checked into our cabin, there was a bottle of wine with an apology for the ordeal we had experienced the previous day in the traffic.
